Spiritomb’s Path of Solitude

Quick Tips

Make sure Spiritomb is at least level 80. It is highly recommended that Spiritomb be level 90 or higher.

Max Spiritomb’s Effort Values for Speed, HP, and Defense.

Hypnotize Sylveon at the start of battle then use Hex throughout.

Spiritomb’s Challenge

Spiritomb goes up against a level 80 Sylveon in this Path of Solitude challenge.

Sylveon is a Fairy-type Pokémon. Sylveon is weak to Poison and Steel-type attacks. Additionally, it is immune to Dragon-type attacks. Unfortunately, Spiritomb cannot learn any super-effective attacks to use against Sylveon and is weak against Sylveon’s attacks.

Recommendations & Advantages

This challenge is fairly difficult without a bit of luck. Due to Sylveon applying status effects to better combo you, it is recommended to out level it to gain a better speed and defensive advantage. Additionally, increasing Effort Values for Speed, HP, and Defense will most likely be needed just to keep up, even when out leveling Sylveon.

During this challenge, using Hypnotize and Hex will be important. Spiritomb cannot learn any super-effective attacks to use, and half of it’s available attacks (dark-types) are resisted by Sylveon. Using Hypnotize will make Sylveon drowsy, adding the possibility of it missing a turn or two. With a status effect on Sylveon, Hex will deal double damage. The move’s power when doubled is 130, making this one of the stronger moves available to Spiritomb. If you experience further difficulties, increasing EVs for Special Attack may also help.

Other recommendations include:

  • Level up Spiritomb to at least Level 90 in order to out level Sylveon.
    • Unless you are looking for a challenge, you should out-level your opponent.
  • Increase of Effort Values (EVs) for Speed, Defense, and HP.
    • Leveling speed ensures Spiritomb can continually attack without Sylveon getting in too many combos.
    • Spiritomb will need to endure at least one attack. Increasing HP and Defense will ensure that it can. This also appears to prevent Sylveon from using any strong-style moves.
    • With Grit items, you can upgrade your Effort Values. A variety of activities can be carried out in order to obtain these items, such as defeating wild Pokémon and releasing captured Pokémon.
    • Effort Values significantly increase stats when reaching an EV level of 1, 4, 7, and 10.
