Quick Tips

Make sure Gyarados is at least level 70.

Increase Effort Values for Speed.

Learn and master Bulldoze from the Training Grounds.

Gyarados’ Challenge

Gyarados faces a level 70 Wash Rotom in this Path of Solitude challenge.

Wash Rotom is a Water/Electric-type Pokémon. Wash Rotom is weak to Grass and Ground-type attacks. Additionally, it is resistant to Fire, Water, Ice, Flying, and Steel-type attacks. Fortunately for Gyarados, it can learn the super-effective Ground-type attack Bulldoze from the Training Grounds.

Recommendations & Advantages

As Wash Rotom is level 70 in this challenge, moves should be fully mastered and ready to use in battle. Using both agile and strong-style Bulldoze attacks will ensure Wash Rotom can be defeated quickly. Increasing Effort Values for Speed can further ensure that Gyarados can defeat Wash Rotom in as few as 3 moves.

Other recommendations include:

  • Level up Gyarados to at least Level 70 in order to either match or outlevel Wash Rotom.
    • Unless you are looking for a challenge, you should at least match your opponent’s level.
  • Increase of Effort Values (EVs) for Speed.
    • Leveling speed ensures Gyarados can attack quickly.
    • With Grit items, you can upgrade your Effort Values. A variety of activities can be carried out in order to obtain these items, such as defeating wild Pokémon and releasing captured Pokémon.
    • Effort Values significantly increase stats when reaching an EV level of 1, 4, 7, and 10.
  • Master the moves learned from Zisu.
    • A mastered move can be used in both Agile-style and Strong-style.
    • Bulldoze is the best move to use against Wash Rotom.
